Antecedentes

.ug is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Uganda. All applications for .ug domains are handled by delegation. Applications for domains within a .ug sub category are designated to an organisation or individual running the appropriate name servers. At the moment, there is no restriction to the number of domains that can be registered by an organisation or individual. There are also currently no restrictions on who is eligible to apply for a .ug domain.

To ensure a swift application process, at least two dependable independent DNS servers need to be provided. These two servers must also be in two physically separate locations on the Internet.

Occasionally, the UG domain registry may verify the information for domain name applications and agreements. This is done to ensure that all information is accurate and could not be seen as misleading. Should any application be found to have used false data and information, the application could be either suspended or even revoked. An application can also be revoked retrospectively after delegation if registration information is found to be false or misleading at a later date.

The UG domain name registry also provides online tools allowing modification of the domain name after delegation. The only people eligible to modify a domain are those listed during the application process.

Administrators must closely follow all guidelines set in the current UG registry domain agreement. The guidelines can be found online at https://www.registry.co.ug/terms.php. The administrator for a UG domain must be technically able to handle any problems that may occur outside of registrant details and DNS information. Problems outside of these two areas may be billed for separately.

Second level .ug domains:

• .ac.ug Domain for higher education institutions. Such as those who offer Degrees, Diplomas and higher academic awards.
• .co.ug Domain for those involved in commercial activities.
• .go.ug Domain for government agencies and groups working for the government.
• .ne.ug Domain for companies involved with network providers or distributing network provisions.
• .or.ug Domain used for other non governmental organisations.
• .org.ug
• .sc.ug Domain for lower education sectors such as primary and secondary schools.
